We offer the diagnostic because we believe parents deserve a clear picture of their child's learning gaps before making any decisions about tuition. If the results are useful to you independently, that's a perfectly fine outcome for us too.
Each subject assessment takes approximately 45 minutes. Most families choose 1–2 subjects for the initial session. The tutor debrief with parents typically takes an additional 20–30 minutes. Results and the gap report are shared the same day or within 24 hours.
No preparation required — and we actively discourage cramming before the diagnostic. The purpose of the assessment is to capture your child's current baseline, not a prepared snapshot. A good night's sleep and arriving calm is all that's needed. The results are most useful when they reflect your child's natural level.
The diagnostic is available for all primary levels from P1 to P6, including students in their PSLE year. Each assessment paper is level-specific and MOE-curriculum-aligned — so a P5 student receives a P5-calibrated test, not a generic one. Science is offered from P3 upwards as that is when it is introduced in the MOE curriculum.

You'll receive the written gap report along with a personalised learning plan and a tutor walk-through. From there, the choice is entirely yours — you can use the plan to guide your child's independent revision, seek tuition elsewhere, or enrol with us. If you do join Edugate, the learning plan forms the basis of your child's tuition programme from day one — no redundant revision, just targeted improvement.
No. A diagnostic in a PSLE year is actually most valuable in Term 1 or early Term 2, when there is still enough time to close the highest-priority gaps before the exam. Even in Term 3, a targeted diagnostic can identify the 2–3 topics that, if addressed quickly, will have the most impact on the AL score. Contact us immediately and we'll prioritise your slot.
